A world of wonder awaits€¦.Africa€™s pioneer wild dolphin encounter program and pioneer volunteer project invites you to take the plunge, face your fears & experience something truly magical when coming face to face with the WILD Dolphins of Ponta, were we experience the true essence of being wild & free! Operating within the Ponta do Ouro Partial Marine Reserve we offer research motivated boat based activities which focus on in-water experiences to engage with wild dolphins, on their terms in the big blue as well as boat based whale viewing in season. Angie€™s decades long relationship, passion & monitoring of the local dolphins together with Mitch€™s 21 year boating experience ensures your upmost safety both while on board our vessel Avalon and while in the open ocean with wild dolphins
Location:Situated on the southern most point of Mozambique lies Ponta do Ouro (650km from JHB), a sheltered bay, that has over the years transformed into a tourist mecca frequented by both African and international tourists alike. Some 120km south of Maputo, a hub of tourism activities sizzles amongst tales of sunken treasure and the most spectacular sunrises. The Point of Gold holds a special energy for our finned friends and borders the sanctuary area of the most northern part of the Isimtangaliswo World Heritage Site; the Kosi Bay Marine Sanctuary. To the north is borders Ponta Techobanine, an area famed for it€™s shallow and pristine coral reefs
The Ponta do Ouro Partial Marine Reserve was proclaimed in 2009 and has a total area of 678 km2. It is located in southern Mozambique€™s Matutuine District & is an important component of the Maputoland's Lubombo Transfrontier Conservation Area that was created for the €œPreserving & Protecting marine & coastal species & their habitats€. Iconic species in the reserve include turtles, marine mammals & a diverse & interesting reef fauna. Our Reserve is governed by a Management Plan that has Regulations pertaining to marine mammal tourism.
Jetskis are limited ONLY to those for fishing. Vessels are to stay 300m from all marine megafauna (whales, dolphins, whale-sharks) No swimming with marine mammals unless with one of the €˜permitted€™ operators.
